Mural Project at 1608 Sir francis Drake Blvd

The San Anselmo Arts Commission has been working tirelessly for years to change the municipal code to allow murals which would further their goal of adding to the cultural character of Ross Valley through artistic expression.

On September 12th, 2023, the Public Mural Program Guidelines were unanimously approved by the San Anselmo Town Council paving the way for more public art.

On April 30, 2024, the Arts Commission, with the cooperation and agreement of the property owners Robin and David Glantz, issued a Call for Artist Proposals for a Public Art Mural to be located on the East side wall of the building at 1608 Sir Francis Drake Boulevard.

This project received 42 submissions for this first such project in our town! On June 17th, 2024, the Arts Commission made their final selection for their first mural and chose Wyn Di Stefano’s piece named “Gateway to West Marin.” In Wyn’s artist statement he wrote, “I want this mural to celebrate the landscape that makes Marin such a beautiful sanctuary, but also to remind the public of the responsibility we have to protect and conserve the land for future generations to come.”
